Workshops & Events

Self-defense training that’s inviting, engaging, and fun!

Workshops can be conducted as stand alone classes, in collaboration with larger community events, or tailored to the any need. Below is a list of our 2-hour premade workshops. This three-workshop series covers the topics that the community has voiced as high priority for their current concerns. ALL are welcome at these events, and our instructors are prepared to modify exercises as needed to ensure everyone can participate. All needed safety gear will be provided. To ensure accessibility while creating sustainable programming, all individual registration rates are on a sliding donation scale.

Fight Back Fundamentals

Self defense is so much more than punches and kicks. Still, the fear of a physical altercation holds many of us back. This workshop will teach you essential physical skills and best practices including palm strikes, punches, elbows, knees, kicks, and defensive strategies. Expect to get sweaty and explore your aggressive side!

Out & About

From going to bars and clubs, to taking the subway home, to simply walking down the street, our queer presence brings with it a certain kind of danger. From extensive outreach and data analysis, this class focuses on the situations queer people find themselves in the most when we’re out and about.

Agency In Intimacy

We’ve fought tirelessly for the rights to freely love who we love. Unfortunately, this doesn’t exclude us from the violence experienced within intimate situations. This workshop will explore the social and physical skills essential to safety in intimate situations ranging from Grindr dates to long term partnerships and everything in between. Techniques covered will include: boundary work, defense against chokes, escape from pins, and more.
